URBAN INTERFERENCE

I began to work on the video clip of Miserable Girl by Jitterbug Riot as an exercise in practicing how to edit multiple camera angles and to learn how to work with music and sound.
I had nine different camera angles to use for this three-minute videoclip of the band playing on stage.
The project was useful in terms of learning how to edit with footage shot by somebody else and how to synchronize music with video and to create a certain rhythm.

Once I’d finished this simple edit, I then started working on a more creative version of the video and created a mood board for the visuals that I wanted to use.
I wanted the mood to centre around the colours red and black which complemented the look of the original video. I started to work with a low-light ambient mood and a specific colour palette.
The idea was to tell the story of a girl preparing to go out for the night but ultimately, she’s simply fantasising about visiting a club where the band is playing.
At the beginning of the video, we see glimpses of her and as it progressises, more of her is revealed.
As the turntable starts she begins to dance around her room and dreams of the band playing her favourite song as she imagines herself in a more alluring and seductive environment.

After I finished the edit I realised I could do more with it, so I started working on another project. This became a hypothetical title sequence for a drama thriller.
The main concept was inspired by the ambience and the mood of my visuals.
I used the existing music and colour palette with some additional footage to create the right atmosphere.
With each new edit I found more inspiration which led me to produce the final edit.
